EXCEPTIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

The House of Causse

Proud of its heritage, Causse offers a modern take on the timeless art of glove-making.

In Millau, known as the 'Glove Capital', artisans have mastered the art of leathercraft for centuries, shaping each piece into perfectly fitted gloves.

After a meticulous selection of the finest leathers, the materials arrive at the workshop, where every step of the making process is carried out on site. Some models require over a hundred individual operations.

The alchemy of leather selection, material choice, colors, and finishing details captivates aesthetes and connoisseurs around the world.

The crafting steps

CUT AND SLIT

After carefully selecting and inspecting the leather, the cutter stretches it and then marks out several rectangles. The glove’s shape is then cut using a press. All the pieces that make up the glove are numbered before being split.

PREPARATION

Embroidery and embellishments are handcrafted in the Manufacture’s ateliers in Millau before the glove assembly.

STITCHING

Various types of machine stitches are used, while some models are entirely hand-sewn.
Edges, hems, buttonholes, fur trims, and perforations are then carefully sewn onto the gloves.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Cashmere or silk linings may then be added. Electrically heated metal hands are used to give the glove its final character by pressing and smoothing the leather.
